Description

Concrete cure and seal is designed to help newly poured concrete curing process with two main features. First is to evenly cure concrete by maintaining moisture not just on the surface, but within also, aiding the concrete to reach its full potential in compressive strength. The harder the concrete matrix becomes, the longer the concrete will last. Many find that using cures on freshly poured concrete that has been colored such as color hardener or integral color additives, helps manage efflorescence, strengthens the cream finish (top of the concrete), and consistency of color.

There are two types of Cure and Seals; dissipating and non-dissipating. The second feature for cure and seal would be the sealing properties. Not only does this help protect the fresh concrete, it provides color enhancement.

The CS Series by SureCrete is a solvent based, non-dissipating, cure and seal finishing membrane that enhances the curing process of freshly placed concrete and provides protection simultaneously. Upon application, it forms a water retentive film that beneficially restricts moisture loss allowing concrete to reach its optimal cure and hardness, providing an economical alternative to costly, time-consuming water curing. The formulation of cure n’ seal makes it possible, as the name suggests, for it to be applied during the curing process of newly poured concrete.

How to Apply CS Series Concrete Cure and Seal Products:

SureCrete’s Cure and Seal products are some of the easiest on the market to use:

Any surface that is about to be sealed needs to be thoroughly clean, free of all contaminants and porous enough to accept a sealer coating.
Make sure that temperatures will remain between 50 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit and there will be no precipitation in the applied areas for a 24 hour period following application.
SureCrete’s CS Series concrete cure and seal can be implemented by roller, airless sprayer or pump-up sprayer. Whatever your application technique, make sure to apply thin, even coats over your surface.
Two coats are typically suggested with any exterior project receiving a cure and seal product, with the second layer being applied as soon as the first coat can be walked on, and is used in the same manner as the first coat.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Question: Why should I use Cure and Seal CS Series instead of a curing agent and an acrylic sealer?
Answer: Chemical curing compounds are temporary curing agents. If you use a curing compound and want to come back with another protective coating later – an epoxy, an acrylic sealer, even a penetrating sealer; that curing compound can’t be there. It has to be completely removed before any additional sealants can be applied over top. If its an interior application it will never go away by itself; it would have to be removed after 28 days – a very messy job, and certainly one that no homeowner wants to go about doing. Cure and Seal CS 250 doesn’t have those strict limitations. It can be placed on your surface and then without removing it later, a new coating can be placed over top to give your substrate better protection.

Question: What is the difference in a cure and seal and an exterior acrylic sealer?
Answer: Acrylic sealers are the perfect exterior protection on concrete surfaces. Cure and Seals are acrylic sealers by definition but are used with a specific purpose in mind. Most sealers repel moisture and stains on the surface but are breathable to allow moisture in the concrete below out. Cure and Seals though use a styrenated acrylic, with the intention of not allowing moisture in the concrete out. With this very specific attribute, cure and seals are used on freshly poured concrete surfaces that have a high amount of moisture left in the cement and aggregate surface. By doing so it slows the curing process and allows the concrete to become stronger and more durable for seal curing concrete.

Question: Can the CS Series Cure and Seal serve as a stand-alone sealer?
Answer: No, it should not be used as a stand-alone sealer product. Once substrate has fully cured, a more resilient coating should be applied to give your new floor better protection.

Question: Can I use just one coat of CS Series Cure and Seal?
Answer: Technically yes, however it is not suggested. For the best results we highly recommend using two thinly applied coats of Cure and Seal CS 250.

Question: Will CS Series Cure and Seal survive the freeze/thaw cycles in my area?
Answer: While it is slightly less durable in this regard than our other premium acrylic sealer products, this coating is usually only by itself on a substrate for less than 30 days when a new, more resilient coating is typically applied, under these circumstances it should survive while it is still this freshly applied.

Question: Can I reseal my existing concrete with CS Series Cure and Seal?
Answer: Cure and Seals are not advised on existing concrete surfaces. When moisture is present below the surface of the acrylic film, it can look cloudy or milky. This is not an attractive look. Therefore, the use of a non-styrenated acrylic, such as the HS Series by SureCrete, is a wise choice. The high-quality solvent based acrylic gives optimal protection, is less slippery when wet due to its penetration abilities, and is breathable to allow moisture underneath out. All products above used for cure concrete sealing like quikrete concrete.

Question: Can I Use CS250 or CS250LV as a second coat instead of two coats of CS125LV?
Answer: Yes, once the first coat of Cure and Seal CS-125LV has been applied and has penetrated the surface, a higher solids Cure and Seal such as CS-250 or CS-250 LV can be applied for slightly more protection.
